WHAT I DID?
Strategic Architect: Spearheaded the 0→1 UX strategy for sunsetting Performance Insights, transforming a high-risk product deprecation into a growth engine for CloudWatch Database Insights.
AI & Systems Design: Established the foundational design patterns for AI-assisted health summaries within the AWS databases console
End-to-End Ownership: Led design for the unified RDS Monitoring experience, aligning engineering, data science, security, and product partners around a shared migration and observability strategy.
IMPACT
Increased early DBI adoption by 40% and lifted paid usage through a data-driven redesign of the migration workflow.
Reduced migration friction for production workloads during a sensitive platform transition.
LAYING THE LAND
Problem at hand
Currently, users are forced into "telemetry fragmentation," navigating three disparate locations. This dashboard fatigue slowed root-cause analysis and eroded "source of truth" confidence - reflecting deep technical debt in the telemetry pipeline.
Proposed solution
Establish CloudWatch Database Insights (DBI) as the flagship observability standard. The required the UX to:
Cognitive Grounding:
Creating a unified mental model without forcing abrupt behavioral shifts.
Operational Continuity:
Sunsetting legacy tools without disrupting database workflows.
